Tori Amos's debut musical will premiere in London next year, it was announced today.
The American singer/songwriter, 47, has been working on music and lyrics for the adaptation of George MacDonald's fairytale The Light Princess. It is due to open at the National Theatre in April 2012.
Australian playwright Samuel Adamson has collaborated with Amos on the story, directed by Marianne Elliott, which follows a cursed princess who does not obey the laws of gravity.
The National unveiled its plans for the coming year. Next month, Danny Boyle directs Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch, Jonny Lee Miller and Naomie Harris. The Cherry Orchard, starring Zoë Wanamaker and Conleth Hill, and Two Guvnors, featuring James Corden, open in May.
The National's Travelex offer, offering almost half of tickets for all performances for £12, continues.
